Stars & Stamps Sketch Challenge #106

Good Sunday evening,

I hope everyone had a good day.    Wasn't that a great thing St. Louis, MO did having a parade to welcome home our returning troops.   It is important that our troops know how much they are appreciated for the sacrifices they made in defending our  nation and keeping us safe.    I know I feel fortunate that I am able to enjoy my hobby and do something for our troops.

Today, I spent the day trying a new technique that a couple of my friends had tried out a couple of weeks ago.  It is stamping on heated foam sheets.  I tried to make mine look like  leather -- it took a few attempts.  I only had a small piece of tan foam and that didn't give much room for too many attempts.  I did run out of the tan otherwise I would have tried it a few more times  :-)      -- so this is as close as I could get it to look like leather.  In person it does look and feel like leather.   My card is a western themed Mother's Day card -- as I am a retired "cowgirl" and do love western themes and the old west.

Have a great week and thanks for stoppin' in.

Sharon

The mare and foal stamp is from Inkadinkado.  The DP is from Flair - Horsin' Around
The brad is from S.U.   The sentiment I made with my computer.  The horseshoe paper
I made by stamping a horseshoe on a strip of S.U. card stock.

OWH Sketch Challenge #105

Good Tuesday morning - actually it is now late afternoon -- (I started on this this AM)

I was going to post on Sunday but my pictures turned out yellow -- and I didn't have any real good sunshine until this morning.    I struggle with these photos  -- the cards appear skewed and/or yellowed.  That will be my next task -- learning to take better pictures.  I should consult my granddaughter -- she's taking photography as one of her college courses.  Maybe she will give her ole grandma a few good tips. :-)

I did two cards for this challenge  - one just as the sketch shows and the second I made adding some well worn/grunge or vintage to the card.  I used my new puppy Boston Terrier stamp from Dragon Fly Laser.  I think his little face says it all.

I have also included a card for last Wednesday's Challenge.  (Better late than never)  We were to make a card with black and white then add a touch of another color.  I CASEd this card from something I saw in a magazine sometime last year.  I found this stamp during my summer travels and thought it would be fun for this challenge.  (Both stamps on this card are from Hero Arts)

Well I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the week.  Not sure about everyone else -- but I have to put my cards aside a few days this week and finish up income tax stuff -- ugh -- would much rather work on my cards.

This is the regular sketch card.  The DP is from  Colorbok - French Prep and the card
stock from S.U.  The sentiment stamp is from Hero Arts and the Boston Terrier is from dragonflylaser.

This is the sketch card that has the worn or grunge /vintage look added.
The sentiment stamp is from Impression Obsession.

Stars & Stamps Sketch Challenge #104

Good evening

Wow another week and here we are in the middle of January.  How time goes by when your having fun.

This was a fun sketch -- at first I had a hard time finding stamps that would fit in the squares -- I found most of my stamps are a bit too big.  I will be on the lookout for some stamps that would be suitable for future challenges.  While looking through my stash of stuff I was lucky to find some butterfly stickers to use on a second card.

I also finished up a card from last weeks sketch challenge -- this card is for both the Wednesday's Floral Fantasy Challenge  and the January ODBD Challenge.

Thanks for taking the time to stop in -- hope you have a wonderful week.

Sharon

The owl card I used stamps from Hero Arts.  I sprayed a little Stampin Up smooch spritz to the kraft card stock.  I also added 3 feathers under the little bow.

This card I used DP from a Colorbok - Rosewood paper pad.  The card stock is from Stampin Up and the butterfly stickers are by Jolee's boutique.

This third card I finished today is from last weeks sketch (103).  I it made for both Wednesday's Floral Fantasy Challenge (make something with flowers) and the January ODDB Challenge (use three different DP).

The DP and the flowers are from K & Company.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Thanks again for stopping in.

Stars and Stamps Sketch Challenge #103

Good Sunday afternoon.  Hope everyone has had a good weekend.  Thanks for taking a minute to stop in -- I know there are so many wonderful cards to view and it isn't always easy to visit all the blogs.

This sketch was fun to do.  The hardest part was figuring out what to use as embellishments.

The Sew Sweet card I used a spool stamp  from Clear Arts Stamp and wrapped them with embroidery floss.  I have been wanting to do that from the time I purchased the stamps so today I thought I would try it.  The sentiment I typed it on my computer but the little needle is from Clear Arts too.    I used two little button brads from Stampin Up.   I also looped some thread from the bottom spool through the needle.

The cupcake card I used cupcake stickers from Jolees.  The DP for both cards is from K & Company - the Classic K series.  The sentiment on the cupcake card is from Hero Arts.

My cards show a little dark -- my flash wasn't working and I was just about out of daylight.  This is one of my goals for this year is to improve on my card picture taking.

Thanks again for stoppin' in

Stars & Stamps Sketch Challenge #102 & Happy New Year

Hope all of you have a healthy and happy New Year.  I did not make any resolutions this year -- just some goals in my mind of what I would like to accomplish this year.  I should write them down and see how well I do.   What about the rest of you?

These are my first cards for 2012 -- this sketch will certainly be one I use this coming year.  I did a "thank you" card for this past Wednesday's challenge too -- but I didn't use the sketch -- but something similar.   Although you will see I've gotten stuck on dogs this week.  :-) My Lab (Sadie) is my inspiration - she usually lays at my feet as I work on my cards.  She is soooo helpful.  I've attached a picture of her at the bottom of this post.

It is nice to get back to my card making after a busy holiday season.

Thanks for taking a minute to stop by --

Warm New Year Wishes!

Sharon

I used Stamping Up card stock for all of these cards - the sentiment stamps are from Hero Arts.  All but the Lab are from Dog Stamps Plus.  The Lab stamp is from Dragon Fly Laser.
